One in five New Zealand adults experience challenges with mental health in any year. This means that at some stage, everyone will have close contact with someone experiencing mental health challenges. This person could be your workmate or your colleague.
Workplace Mental Health First Aid is the internationally accredited mental health literacy and awareness raising programme. It focuses on building the knowledge and capability of individuals to provide first response support for their workmates experiencing mental health challenges, and connecting them with professional services.
The programme covers the major mental health challenges and associated crisis's prevalent in New Zealand. It introduces participants to the ways they can help foster, support, and reclaim the mental health of their workplace. Additionally, it promotes the many resources and interventions available e.g. e-therapy, websites, apps, mindfulness, Te Whare Tapa Wha.
The programme is delivered in a blended learning format consisting of 5-7 hours of online self-paced learning through the online learning portal, and a one-day face to face workshop.
Requirements
- You must be 18 years or older to attend this course.
- The online learning requires participants to have access to a computer and internet.
- There is a reading component with the online learning.
Please note this course is not a therapy or support group.

Self-paced online training will be available from Tuesday 6th June.
The face-to-face workshop will be held on Friday 21st July.
Cancellation policy
Cancellations made prior to commencement of online e-learning will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made after the commencement of the online e-learning components will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the face-to-face training day will not receive a refund however we will endeavour to place you on another course subject to availability.
