Saturday 22 August 20207:30 - 13:00Add to calendar
I have organised a YES spot at the Nelson Market on the 22nd of August, if you want to secure your spot please register and make payment below.
You will need to supply your own trestle table, full length table cloth and if you have access to a gazebo it must be no bigger than 2.5 by 2.5 metres.
On the day there will be cash prizes for, Best Sale, Best Stall and Best Customer Interaction.
If you are a food producing YES company, please ensure you are following Food Safety guidelines, PMI outlines Safety Tips here, you need to use a certified commercial kitchen and while YES companies do not need to register to the National Safety Programme or have a registered approved food control plan, I encourage you to cast your eyes over the MPI food control plan template so you can manage your risks and form an informal plan outlined for your company where relevant. (this may be something your customers ask about, or Market organisers)
Your involvement at the YES Nelson Market Day is completely optional, please flick me an email and let me know what your alternative plans are for your company. firstname.lastname@example.org
How to sell at a market
It is not enough to just turn up to a market with your product! You must take time to plan your stall layout in advance.
Spend some time watching this Youtube video from iQualify https://youtu.be/X30DCBfaDVc YES TV - Going to Market (29 minutes, 30 seconds). In this episode of YES TV, we talk to Esther and Wendy who run the Wellington Underground Markets, to get some top tips on how to have a winning market stall and how to make the most of a market opportunity.
While you are watching the video, have a piece of paper or a device handy and make notes on the advice that they give.
